My name is Karla Ritchie and I am the creator of this extremely useful and informational website. I am 28 years old, and a single mother of two little boys; Michael who is 7 and Matthew who is 5. Currently in my life, I am a part-time college student working towards a degree in Radiologic Technology and I work three jobs. I work extremely hard in all the things I do, and some weeks, I barely make ends meet. Money is very tight for me and my kids, so I utilize the state of Minnesota's food stamp program. I have had an EBT card for a few years now, and there is so much I didn't know about what I could actually purchase with my food stamps. I was in the dark, and thought I was very limited to the food that I was allowed to buy. It turns out, that as the times change, and we become more aware of the affects that our diet has on our health, the technology that we use adapts to modern society. When the Food Stamp Program first started, people literally used stamps. Little pieces of paper that they  brought to the store to redeem for food. When I first started using EBT, you could only use the card at chain grocery stores like Cub Foods, Rainbow Foods, and Wal-Mart Superstores. As time progressed, so did the assistance program. And now, there are so many different places that accept this card, and an abundance of various foods that you can buy! I may be limited to the funds that I have and the assistance that I receive, but I know that I can feed my family healthy and nutritious foods, and that makes me feel good!
